Our whole family loves Gravity Falls. We had Grunkle Stan fez hats for birthday parties and recreated parts of Dipper’s journal during the summer. So when Halloween came around last year, we all had our idea on which characters we would be. But in the end, only my son Jack ended up with a Gravity Falls costume, his favorite: Old Man McGuckett.
I made the Hat from craft foam and the feet from cardboard wrapped in gause. The beard was from a wizard costume and the arm cast is more foam wrapped in gause.
The defining feature of McGuckett ended up being the cartoony eyes and nose. Here I used some googly glasses and painted the frames white then locked the pupils in place. The nose was a piece of upholstery foam, sculpted to shape, with an armature wire inserted to keep the bend. Then it was wrapped in felt and glued to the glasses.
It was a hit. Hope you enjoy it.
